The end of the year is here, and with that we like to check our students one by one to see how everybody is doing and how they can communicate in the context of Standard Based Testing. How do we do this? We use the format of Official Examinations to evaluate kids English Competency.
What is the kids reaction?
They love it! Coming out of class, and being tested in a fun and warm way, makes them feel special and it gives them the opportunity to show off their learning.
What information do we get from this process?
Internally, a lot, it also gives us some quantitative info on how they are doing in the context of the levels established by the European Framework. It reminds us of the importance of the long journey language is and the need to continue to recycle the use of simple language.
These internal exams allow us to calibrate groups and materials and demonstrate where EACH and EVERY student are on their English Language journey.
This is one of the reasons why we suggest that parents help kids maintain contact with the language year around. Kids need all the exposure to English they can get! Especially in positive environments to create a connection with the language. Be sure to have them doing things over the Summer so all the wonderful language we were seeing in these exams doesn´t fade away…

El final del curso está llegando, y durante nuestro último trimestre evaluamos individualmente a cada uno de nuestros alumnos como parte de su seguimiento global para ver cómo pueden comunicarse usando las pruebas basadas en estándar. ¿Cómo hacemos esto? Utilizamos el formato de los exámenes oficiales para evaluar la competencia en inglés de los niños.
¿Cuál es la reacción de los alumnos?
¡A ellos les encanta! Salen de clase uno a uno, y se les hace una prueba divertida y de forma cálida, les hace sentir especiales y les damos la oportunidad de demostrar su aprendizaje.
¿Qué información obtenemos de este proceso?
Muchísima, no sólo como gestión interna, sino que también nos da información cuantitativa sobre la forma en que están consiguiendo los niveles definidos en el Marco Europeo. Nos recuerda la importancia del largo viaje que supone el aprendizaje de una lengua y la necesidad de continuamente reciclar el uso del lenguaje más sencillo.
Estos exámenes internos nos permiten calibrar los grupos y los materiales y determinar donde CADA uno de TODOS nuestros alumnos se encuentra en su Viaje Lingüístico en Inglés.
Los buenos resultados que observamos es una de las razones por las que sugerimos que los padres ayuden a los niños a mantener el contacto con la lengua durante todo el año. Los niños necesitan toda la exposición al Inglés que pueden conseguir, especialmente en ambientes positivos donde conectar con el lenguaje.
